SolarWaterWorld AG was founded in March 2001. Since 2008, the company has been headquartered in Berlin. Emerging from the Institute for Solar Shipbuilding, SolarWaterWorld AG combines scientific-theoretical, technical and practical expertise with worldwide marketing and licensing.
The company is now one of the most successful companies in the market of solar-electric boats and ships. The goal of SolarWaterWorld AG is to establish the use of solar energy in boats and ships and to take the leading position in the world market. SolarWaterWorld AG designs, develops and manufactures solar systems and accessories in the water sports sector, for example for upgrading and converting conventional boats and ships. SolarWaterWorld AG develops, finances and operates rental systems for solar boats in the tourism sector and develops concepts for public transport using environmentally friendly solar passenger ships.
As early as spring 1995, SolarWaterWorld AG opened the world's first solar boat filling station in Berlin-Köpenick - so that solar boats can also be supplied with solar energy after sunset. Energy that is generated and stored during the day via the solar roof of the filling station. At the same time, the facility serves as a test station for new developments, long-term analyses and further development of the proven products of SolarWaterWorld AG.
The endurance and stress test for SolarWaterWorld AG's technology and material was completed in 2007 by the catamaran Sun21, which crossed the Atlantic to New York.
